The state of Texas does not impose a state income tax on individuals, therefore, they are not required to file an individual state tax return.
Note: Texas Controller extends individual and business tax filing and payment deadline.
In response to the recent winter storm and power outages in the state, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on February 21, 2021 that his agency is automatically extending the due date for 2021 franchise tax reports from May 15 to June 15. The extension aligns the agency with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which earlier this week extended the April 15 tax-filing and payment deadline to June 15 for all Texas residents and businesses. You can find additional information at Texas state tax deadline extended.
